One Direction’s first live performance on American telly went pretty well if the hordes of screaming girls were anything to go by.
They arrived in an open topped tour bus and therefore ensured there was ultimate opportunity for pandemonium among the teenage lasses waiting for the lads, who are being dubbed the new Beatles.
Harry Stiles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan were sporting their best quiffs and cheeky grins for the show in New York and sang their little hearts out to three of their tracks, while wearing particularly patriotic coloured clothes.
One Direction's latest appearance is sure to put a smile on the faces of record label Syco’s big wigs after the Brit Award winners were given five hard slaps on the legs for their escapades at a bowling alley recently.
Liam can't hear himself think, so it's a good job he can pretty much sing their songs in his sleep nowSPLASH
Zayn sure has got his smoulder perfectedSPLASH
They played in front of thousands of wailing girls at New York’s Radio City Hall and then went for a game of bowling – they are still teenage lads after all.
Which would also explain why they got a bit over-excited and boisterous by chucking three balls down the lane at the same time… and broke the machinery.
“The whole thing came off its hinges. It totally broke. We got a slap on the hand and were told off by the label for that,” Liam said, while probably trying not to stifle his naughty little laugh.
“We’d taken over a lane, played about two games and then got a bit bored. So we started an experiment, throwing two or three balls at the same time.”
Harry added: “It was really bad but quite funny – but no one else thought so.”
They’ll all get milk and cookies after their latest outing though we’re sure.

One Direction make history as the first UK group to debut at number one in the US charts with first album
By Sarah Fitzmaurice
The Wanted became the most successful UK boy band in America earlier this month when their track Glad You Came entered into the US charts at number five.
But fellow British band One Direction have made history as the first UK group to debut at No.1 on the BillBoard chart with their album Up All Night.
The previous highest entry for a UK group’s first album was number six – when the Spice Girls entered the charts with their album Spice in 1997.
America... cracked: British boy band One Direction have made history as the first UK group to debut at No.1 with their debut album
The girl power group then saw their debut album climb the charts to reach the top spot 14 weeks after it first entered.
One Direction comprises of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson and the former X Factor contestants are signed to Simon Cowell's label Syco.
The band’s group Twitter account today posted: ‘Congratulations to One Direction for coming in at #1 on the U.S. @billboard charts. Thank you to all who've been there from day one. 1DHQ X’
Big hit Stateside: Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson have made history with their album Up All Night
Heartthrobs: The boys were met by thousands of fans when they performed on The Today Show earlier this month
The teen pop sensations recently enjoyed a jam-packed promotional tour across America and caused pandemonium wherever they went it seemed.
The group also performed on the Today show two weeks ago in front of thousands of excited fans who had gathered to catch a glimpse of the group.
As well as performing a ten date tour it was recently announced that the group have bagged their own Nickelodeon show.
Girl power: Before One Direction secured the top spot the Spice Girls had the highest album entry for a UK act with Spice entering the US charts at number six in 1997
On Saturday Harry made a shameless attempt to get Kim Kardashian's attention by turning up to a radio interview in the U.S. holding a massive posted of her in a bikini.
On it, he's attached a post-it note, with a message for the 31-year-old that said: 'Call me... Maybe?'
Harry has a penchant for dating older women, following his three-month fling with The Xtra Factor host, Caroline Flack, 32.
He had used a similar technique to woo her - posing with a sign that read: 'To Flackster! Never too old... Let's make it happen!! Lots of love, Harry S.'
The star joined the rest of One Direction at the Q102 radio station in Pennsylvania on Saturday as they continue their U.S. tour.
It was revealed on Sunday that Niall Horan had been tweeting Khloe.
He invited the 27-year-old along to an upcoming fan event with the band in Dallas, Texas, where she lives.
But Niall does not appear to have had any untoward intentions as he also invited Khloe’s NBA star husband Lamar Odom to the concert.

'They love that he looks like the perfect all-American boy': Harry Styles suffers knock to ego as fans go crazy for Niall Horan
By Alanah Eriksen
There's said to be fierce rivalry in the One Direction camp, as the American girls go crazy for Niall Horan.
As the boys tour the U.S., the 19-year-old is apparently being mobbed by fans, while Harry Styles, who is arguably the biggest star back here, is left in the wings.
And Zayn Malik is apparently not far behind.
One Direction battle: Niall Horan is said to be the favourite stateside, which has knocked Harry Styles' ego, as he's supposedly the most popular member here
'All the boys are popular, but the girls in the U.S. seem to be absolutely obsessed with Niall,' a source told Closer magazine.
'They love the fact he's Irish and looks like the perfect all-American boy. He gets swamped with girls wherever he goes.
Feeling tired? The boys were seen arriving at Toronto Pearson airport over the weekend
Whirlwind trip: Yesterday, the were seen at Montreal airport
A friend added that the band were trying not to 'get on each others' nerves ahead of their three-month U.S. tour which starts in May.
They will play at 20 venues.
'The boys are feeling a bit cooped-up, as they're spending 24/7 together, and are starting to get a little homesick,' the friend said.
'They don't want silly rows to affect them, so are trying to keep fighting to a minimum.'
The boys were pictured arriving at Toronto Pearson airport over the weekend, and yesterday at Montreal airport.
